cropped-my-blog-profile-pic.jpgI’m glad I’m now able to start blogging again despite my tight teaching schedule. By the way, I teach English online and teaching ESL is basically my bread and butter. I didn’t study to be a teacher but I would say I’m more than a teacher. I’m a traveler, consultant, business owner, good friend, and so on. I was born and raised in the Philippines. I’m a transgender girl who wants to travel the world. I’m interested in different cultures and I love meeting new people.

I’ve been teaching for the last 8 years. And I live in the city of Baguio in the Philippines. It is my desire to share the English language with everyone who needs to learn it for whatever reason. My students are from all over the world. I’m interested in different cultures. In my free time, I take a walk around my endz to see the beautiful sights and to rejuvenate.

I went to University of the Cordilleras in the city of Baguio and graduated in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. I used to be a cashier at one of the leading fast food restaurants in the country. I always wanted to manage a restaurant but this endeavour eventually faded. I didn’t teach ESL until I stepped up to the second year at uni. A friend of mine got me teaching at the ESL center she was working for. I wound up teaching in the morning and studying in the afternoon. The first folks that I taught ESL to were Koreans, Taiwanese, Japanese, and Chinese. The first ESL center I worked for is called Can I Talk Academy. I learnt a lot from my first teaching experience. I taught university students and adults and learnt to spice up the books through engage. I used conversation in the engage stage and followed the school lesson plans. I learnt to teach from materials including books, online articles, and magazines. I did free talking and played word games. I would get high marks from my students. In December 2012, I taught at a winter camp for children from Korea and made discussions based on many topics. The school was called Choice For You. Since this was only a winter camp program, the employment only lasted for like 4 weeks. Another ESL center I worked for is called J.I.C.. I taught multiple ESL subjects and learnt many teaching techniques my self like getting my students interested and entertained. I made my students laugh and maintained interest.

Hundreds of thousands of English learners come to my city to study. They stay here for like two to three months. To them, studying in this city is more than just learning ESL but also learning the culture of the local folks. Most students consider learning ESL in my country to be the first step to getting used to living in native English peaking countries like Australia England and USA. Students leaving the school has a great emotional impact on the teachers since they’ve established friendship with their students. Most classes are basically one-to-one so, both student and teacher can talk about anything under the sun. Well, I started teaching online like in 2013. I tried juggling my online and offline jobs and ended up being totally knackered every day so I decided to just focus on my online teaching. Now that I have freedom of time, I can spend most of it on writing articles and working on my own learning and teaching resources.
